Sacks says no to chicken soup

It's true, it's official, it's amazing...

Britain's Chief Rabbi, Lord Professor (etc) Jonathan Sacks, is a vegetarian!

He says so in this interview with Cambridge University's VarsiTV, before adding:

I don't miss the Chicken soup, and life is short enough without my inflicting pain on innocent chickens.

As a sometime flexitarian, I'm excited.

  1. you can't be a 'sometime flexitarian' being a flexitarian is already a part time position. That would make you a part time part time meat eater, and that's just silly.

  2. Alma,
What if most of the time he is an enthusiastic meat eater, and part of the time, when he eats meat in a normal fashion, he also sometimes abstains a little. That would mean that in part of the time, he eats meat part of the time. Hence, not a silly comment at all. :)

  3. haha! Well Alma, I meant 'sometime' in the sense of having been a flexitarian for some time. But yeah, badly written on my part.

And Tooly, I like the way you understood my comment. I feel I ought to be more vege. But what you wrote, that 'part of the time he eats meat part of the time' probably better describes my actual diet!

  4. This means the Chief Rabbi of Britain joins the former Chief Rabbi of Ireland (David Rosen) in vegetarianism. Definitely some sort of anglo jewish-veggie conspiracy going on here. http://www.jewishveg.com/
